On Saturday 9th February and for the first time in the more than 20-year history of the Norfolk Island Gift, Nathanial Kalsrap joined his brother Mark to become the first siblings to have both won this event. Posting the fastest qualifying time for the final, Nathanial looked in full control as he stormed through to finish more than a metre clear of a fast finishing back marker, TK Morgan with Paddy Eyre taking third spot.

With a strong Easterly breeze and a very dry track, times were expected to be a little slower than previous years for the running of this years Gift but that did not deter our athletes with over 75 entries being received across the 3 events for the afternoon...

Despite the need to postpone the “Gift” by one day, a great group of athletes, friends and families settled into an afternoon of athletics at the Malcolm Champion Oval on Sunday 6 December.

In over 20 years of staging the Norfolk Island Gift, the events have been based on the World Masters Grading Tables that are used to handicap athletes based on their age and gender to ensure that every participant has an even chance of winning a particular event. It is then up to fitness and preparation that eventually determines the winners and placegetters. The 2015 events included three events, the Norfolk Island Gas Centre 100 metres, the World Traders 400 metres and the Middlegate Mile.

Saturday again brought ideal conditions for the running of the 2015 Norfolk Island “Gift” at the Malcolm Champion Oval. Another great turn up of supporters to watch a dedicated group of younger athletes battle it out through the afternoon in a series of three events, the Norfolk Island Gas Centre 100 metres, ; the World Traders 400 metres and the Middlegate Mile.

Athlete entry numbers were again solid but with a number of competing events on the day saw fewer senior athletes participating despite the over $2000 in cash and prizes on offer.

Perfect weather conditions and another great afternoon’s competition were the order of the day at the Malcolm Champion Oval for the annual running of the Norfolk Island Gift last Saturday afternoon.

Parents, athletes, friends and interested onlookers filled the banks of the oval to witness this year’s event. Although entry numbers were down a little on last year the competition was as fierce as ever with everyone vying to be the “Gift” winner for 2013. With over $2000 value in prizes on offer for the 3 events the Norfolk Island Gift continues to be a favourite event for many of our younger and not so young athletes.

Cool, overcast weather greeted a full field of athletes and family supporters to the annual Norfolk Island “Gift” which was held at the Malcolm Champion Oval on Saturday the 8th of December.

The “Gift” has been conducted for well over 20 years and has in the past involved a number of different athletics events including a selection of sprints, middle distance, jumps and throws. In more recent years the focus has been on running events and 2012 repeated the success of last year with the staging of the “Middlegate” Mile, the “World Traders” 400 metres and the blue ribbon event, the “Norfolk Island Gas Centre” 100 metres...

The annual Norfolk Island Gift was conducted in fine weather at the Malcolm Champion Oval on Saturday 26th November. A good roll up of parents and supporters were on hand to witness some great performances, particularly from some of our younger and emerging athletes.

The afternoon began with the heats of the Norfolk Island Gas Centre 100metres. With 4 heats and the fastest 8 times progressing to the final later in the afternoon all athletes had to give of their best from the start. Early favourites included defending champion Taylah Menzies and school sprint sensation Mark Kalsrap but the heat results soon had Mark firming as hot favourite to take out the ‘blue ribbon” event. Other winners of their respective heats were Matt Snell, Charlie Carr and Casey Snell all easily progressing to the final.

Taylah menzies defends her title in the "gift" 2010

Taylah Menzies recorded her second straight win in last weekends Norfolk Island Gas Centre Gift. Her effort in winning the 100metres event topped off a great preparation for Taylah, being ably assisted by family support and coaching from Grandfather Yarm and Dad Dylan who is currently residing in Brisbane. Between Dylan and daughter Taylah they have notched up 5 wins over the years and there might yet be a third family member keen to have their name etched on the perpetual trophy – seems Yarm might yet be out training next year to give Taylah a run for her money.
