A Triumphant Day at the 2025 Around the Island Relay

A Community Celebration Like No Other

On Sunday 9 November 2025, the scenic roads of Norfolk Island once again came alive for the much-anticipated Around the Island Relay 2025, proudly hosted by Athletics Norfolk Island (ANI). With the start and finish at Gallows Gate, Kingston, participants embraced the challenge of the 25 km course, whether walking or running, solo or as part of a team.

This event continues to shine as a true community affair: nature enthusiasts, athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters gathering to celebrate movement, friendship and island spirit. The morning dawned bright and welcoming, a perfect backdrop for this island-wide relay.

Event Highlights

  • The course covered approximately 25 km, featuring a stunning circuit around Norfolk Island’s coastline, cliffsides and verdant roads.

  • Walkers began at 6:00 am, followed by runners at 7:15 am with staggered starts and handicaps to level the playing field.

  • All ages and fitness levels were welcomed – whether you chose to run the full loop solo or teamed up with friends in a relay format of two, three or six legs.

  • A heartfelt thank-you goes to the legion of volunteers, supporters and sponsors who ensured the event ran smoothly, and to photographer Zach from Stuck On A Rock for capturing the magic.

  • After the finish, participants and supporters gathered for a well-earned sausage sizzle, refreshments and the prize-giving ceremony, island style.
